Regardless, much has changed in the world of gaming. Lootboxes and censorship plague the landscape. It feels like I cannot go anywhere for escapism. Everything is either altered or engineered to take advantage of you.
First, I will address censorship. For the past several years, Sony has been censoring many of the JRPGs that I love to play. Particularly the Hyper dimension Neptunia games. All the still images and things of that nature had to be cropped or altered. Same thing for the Senra Kagura games. The developers stated that it was Sony that wanted this done. Which was bizarre since this was never an issue before. I wont go into details, most of what you can find will be here,

Because of this, I refrained from purchasing anything on the Playstation platform. This affected my descision in the past couple of games. Particularly RPGs. With their behavior, I cant support them. It has been nine months since I bought anything for my PS4 and it doesn't look like I'll be buying the PS5.
In' terms of loot boxes, I am sad to say that I have spent more money on Overwatch than I should have. 40 dollars to be precise. After realizing what the hell was happening, I stopped buying loot boxes and just played the game normally. Since then I avoided everything with mechanics like that. Which means, I avoided a good portion of titles for a number of years. Significantly reducing my options during that time. However, things look like they'll be changing since several government bodies have been looking into the matter.
